Just had the privilege of working with Blake Freeman this past June 12 for the first United YoYo Championships. We combined his Kansas State YoYo Contest with MoYo States. I’ve been running the Missouri State YoYo Contest, MoYo States, since 2007. With the new team-up we will crown a state champion for Kansas and Missouri, rotating the contest every year between St. Louis and Kansas City.
As a competitor you have the opportunity to meet new players, learn new tricks, and win contest prizes. In addition United YoYo will award four seeds straight into the finals of the Midwest Regional YoYo Contest; the 1A and open division state champions for Missouri and Kansas.
With the ultimate goal of becoming competition ready for the National YoYo Contest. Every year at the state level the division 1A first place and the 1A state champion automatically qualify for semi-finals at Nationals. Qualifying from United YoYo is Jacob Vaughn and Robin Strickland. Also qualified to compete at Nationals is Brandon Cole, MO Open Champion, for placing in the top 10 at the Midwest Regional YoYo Contest. Definitely exciting to see some of our competitors from United YoYo seeded into the semi-finals at the National YoYo Contest this year!
Speaking of Nationals….once the 2016 contest season is officially over we will start putting bids in for a St. Louis venue for 2017. In the meantime, congrats and thank you to all the players and families that came to support the 2016 United YoYo Championships here is the full list of results.
