Players can enter the Sport divisions, or the Championship divisions, but not both. Trophies for 1st place in Championship divisions.

NYYL Freestyle Rules  We will be using the trick list and rules from the National Yo-Yo League (NYYL). All rules from the NYYL will be followed, except where notations have been made on this website below.

DIVISIONS:

All divisions must PRE-Register by the deadline, except Beginner’s Luck. If you are interested in being in the Beginner’s Luck division, you can sign up in person at the event.


• Beginners Luck
First time at a yo-yo contest? Just trying to figure this toy out? The Beginners luck division is for you! Each trick completed on the list gets you an entry into a drawing to win cool prizes. Between 10:00-12:00 in the YoYoZone. Raffle prizes drawn at about 12:00.

• Sport Ladder
Videos Detailed videos of each trick in order. NOTE: We will only be using the  “1A” side of the ladder.
Trick List PDF You can use this sheet to practice for the event. An identical one will be used by the judges.
SPECIAL NOTE- We will be using a (5pt, 3pt, 0pt) two try system for each trick. The second time you get a “0 pt” retires you from the ladder.
– Age groups will be based on the registration if needed.
Only the string ladder will be used.
– 2 yo-yos are allowed to be used during the ladder. The contestant determines when to switch from one to the next.

• Sport Freestyle 1A & X
– 1A Players use one yo-yo to perform string tricks to 1 minute of music of their choice. The player decides what tricks to perform and judging is based on the “evaluation only” criteria. (There are no FINALS for this division.)
– X division (2A-5A) You will register for the division your style matches, but will be competing against all the other styles at the same time.
All players are judged based on the 1 minute freestyle using evaluation criteria.)

• Championship Divisions
– 1A
– X division (2A-5A) You will register for the division your style matches, but will be competing against all the other styles at the same time.
– 1 minute prelims if needed, 3 minute finals

• Lucky’s Duo Division
– Duos is not a team competition; it is limited to two competitors on the stage, no more, no less.
– We are looking for entertainment value in the 2-minute performance.
