Divisions

There are three divisions of competition at the Ohio State YoYo Contest. Players who are competing in the Sport Ladder MAY NOT compete in Freestyle divisions, but players may compete in BOTH 1A and X Freestyle divisions.

1A Freestyle

This is the main division, and consists of players performing a 2-minute freestyle set to the music of their choice in the 1A style of play: single yoyo, string tricks. Freestyles are judged based on current NYYL scoring criteria.

NOTE: Competitors in this division will be required to perform a 1-minute preliminary freestyle in order to qualify to the final round.

X Freestyle

This division consists of players performing a 2-minute freestyle set to the music of their choice in any of the following play styles: 2A (two-handed looping), 3A (two-handed string tricks), 4A (offstring) or 5A (counterweight). Freestyles are judged based on current NYYL scoring criteria.

Sport Ladder

This division consists of players performing a series of tricks, one-at-a-time, to be executed exactly as spelled out, for a single judge. Full list of tricks and instructions on how to perform them can be found here: SPORT LADDER.
